Rwanda

The land of a thousand hills

Rwanda

Popularly known as ‘the land of a thousand hills’, Rwanda’s landscape is truly breathtaking.

Spectacular volcanoes and dense tropical forests dominate the north of the country, while gentle hills, calm lakes, turbulent rivers and dense tropical vegetation dominate the rest of the country.

Wide variety of wildlife

National Parks

The national parks of Rwanda boast a wide variety of wildlife. The most popular of them is definitely Parc National des Volcans, where trekkers from all over the world go to track the endangered Mountain Gorillas. Today there are just slightly more than 800 Mountain Gorillas left in the world and Parc National des Volcans is home to a large number of them. They live in a protected area, free from poachers and are viewed in their natural habitat at a fairly close range.
